During the course of the Gun Jams thread, several community members stated that that they would accept the removal of Gun Jams if there was something to "replace" them to hinder inattentive players. I personally don't feel that Gun Jams need anything as a "replacement" because they're a mere annoyance, but I'm also more than willing to punish players for being careless and see no problem with adding additional "realism" mechanics to do so. The concepts I'm happiest with are thus: Taking Melee Damage lowers Attack Speed by 30% for 1 second. This one is pretty straightforward - it's hard to aim straight when you're getting punched in the chest (or the head (or any part of your anatomy, really)). This will be a nice little punishment for people who like to facetank when they shouldn't. Tacking on an immunity to this for the Flamethrower, Enforcer, and Cyborg would be relatively easy as part of their ability progression. Taking damage during a Reload increases the duration of the Reload by 1 second, not exceeding the original maximum duration. This one is also pretty straightforward - you're liable to fumble something if you're getting hit while you're doing it. The cap is there to prevent someone from getting hit a bunch and winding up with an absurdly long reload timer. Proning underwater renders you invisible, but reduces your Sight Range and Weapon Range by 10 and lowers Attack Speed and Reload Speed by 75%. Ubermarine, bless his heart, pointed out that it's entirely possible to swim around in the muck of the swamp by Proning while within it. I happen to think that it's hilarious and we should keep it, but also make the interaction of doing so a little more realistic. The invisibility thing is a standard cloak effect and could potentially open up methods of using the Swamp strategically, which is an interaction I would be interested in seeing.
